What’s New from Cotton+Steel: Summer 2018 Recap

Happy August, everybody! August is always a big fabric month for us, and this year has more amazing new collections than ever! Let’s take a look at the biggest releases this summer from one of our favorites, Cotton+Steel. These collections include three collaborations, Rifle Paper Co., and the last individual collections from two of our favorite Cotton+Steel designers.

Panorama

While this collection has been out since earlier this summer, it’s so good we have to keep talking about it! Panorama is one big collaboration collection made of 3 mini collections– Panorama Cloud, Panorama Ocean, and Panorama Sunrise. Perfect for endless mixing and matching! The little sheep and dainty oxfords are definite standouts, as are the comic book illustration style raindrops.

Freshly Picked

Melody Miller’s final collection for Cotton+Steel, Freshly Picked, is bright and cheerful, and absolutely bursting with retro flair. Melody took inspiration for this collection from a trip to Portugal, riffing on the antique tiles found there with her signature colorful style. The fluffy clouds look so pretty as a quilt backing, and the big daisies would look right at home in a vintage style quilt.

Front Yard

Front Yard is Sarah Watts’ final collection for Cotton+Steel, and just makes us smile every time we see it– those sweet gnomes and giant mushrooms couldn’t be any cuter! The teal and red color palette looks fresh and a little retro at the same time, with a touch of zesty citron and soft aqua. The low volume line drawing prints featuring gnomes, frogs, and butterflies will add a fun surprise to quilt backgrounds.

English Garden

The latest from the always anticipated Rifle Paper Co. collaboration, English Garden transports you to the stately British countryside. Bouquets, brush stripes, lacy roses, and painterly florals in a grounded navy and white palette look so good next to the gold-flecked border print (see a skirt made from this print at Quilt Market here.) English Garden will mix beautifully with Cotton+Steel Basics, and Rifle Paper Co’s other collections, such as Amalfi!

Eclipse

Halloween doesn’t always have to be orange and black– purple and blue are getting time in the spotlight this year (De La Luna from Tula Pink uses a similar palette.) Eclipse is a collaboration between the Cotton+Steel designers, and can someone please give us some fun size candy bars already? Mysterious owls, snappy stripes, and those enormous, silver spider webbed roses, and pearly ghosties make this collection spooky and sweet at the same time.

Frost

It may feel like the furthest thing from wintertime outside, but Frost, Cotton+Steel’s holiday collaboration line, makes snow and ice sound downright beautiful. More wintry than Christmas-y, brilliant cardinals, happy little penguins, gift-giving mice, and tiny skiers are ready for your fussy cutting fun. We love the icy blue and peach palette, punched up with holly red, deep navy, and snappy hot pink.
