Beauty Shop Fabric by Cotton + Steel Menagerie by Rifle Paper Co. and Cotton + Steel

Cotton and Steel has two lines arriving at the store this August: Beauty Shop and Menagerie! Let's take a quick look at the two very different, but awesome, collections!

First is Beauty Shop, a collaboration line between Sarah Watts and Melody Miller. The line was inspired by the salons and beauty parlors of yesterday, where ladies would gather just as much to get their hair and nails done as to gossip and gab. We absolutely adore the little strawberry hard candies and sassy cats

This line also includes a panel in two colorways, showcasing retro motifs that are just perfect for quilt squares!

Menagerie by Rifle Paper Co. and Cotton + Steel Second is Menagerie by Rifle Paper Co. As always, the line has beautiful, painterly florals and characters, this time in the form of birds, tigers, giant leaves, and the always a hit rosa flowers. This line inlcudes a digital print, "Watercolor in Multi." Digital printing allows for more colors to make this fabric really dynamic.

Menagerie also includes several substrates, namely lawn, rayon, canvas, and a rayon-lawn blend. The return of "Birch Floral" rayon in a rich eggplant color defintiely makes us happy, and the metallic "Celestial Lawn" is just dreamy! The canvases in this collection are absolute knockouts-- we want every bag, basket, and toss pillow made from tiger (Jungle Canvas in Hunter) or monstera (Monstera Canvas in Natural) prints!

To really show off how amazing this canvas is, we made a Noodlehead Divided Basket-- see the post here!

Cotton and Steel July 2017: Kicks, Lagoon, and Magic Forest!

Kicks-- Cotton + Steel Lagoon-- Cotton + Steel Magic Forest-- Cotton + Steel

We're so excited about Cotton and Steel's newest collections from Melody Miller, Rashida Coleman-Hale, and Sarah Watts! Here's a little tour of each line.

Kicks by Melody Miller First up, we have Kicks by Melody Miller. Melody was inspired by a museum exhibit featuring vintage sneakers, and the resulting collection is cool and retro in that classic Melody style. Not only does the collection feature tennis shoes, but athletic socks, whimsical shoelace stripes, and a strikingly geometric dot print.

Next isLagoon by Rashida Coleman-Hale. Lagoon is full of tropical motifs, including lemurs, leaves, feathers, and an amazing map print featuring tiny swimmers and friendly elephants! We also love the blender prints in this line-- "Mini Chimes" in the orchid and cobalt colors are sure to show up in many future projects.  Lagoon by Rashida Coleman-Hale

Magic Forest by Sarah Watts Last but definitely not least is Magic Forest by Sarah Watts. Sarah's collection contains 10 large-ish scale prints of animals ranging from bees to unicorns that manage to be both magical and a little moody just like a real woods. We can't get enough of those swirly tailed squirrels!

Which collection is your favorite? What do you plan to make with these new prints? Tell us in the comments!

Cotton + Steel Club- August

Posted by Brenda Ratliff on Aug 14, 2014 12:11:00 PM

Cotton + Steel Club has officially begun!! Our first month of subscriptions have just gone out and now we can happily share with you what all our subscribers will be getting in their mailboxes in the coming days.

All new Cotton+Steel fabrics! At Pink Castle Fabrics!

As many of you (hopefully) know, we were so excited about Cotton and Steel as a new company, we wanted to create a new club as a way for people to acquire this massive collection.

We knew a lot of people wanted the entire collection but buying 102 prints all at one time is expensive, not to mention overwhelming. Cotton + Steel Club will let you slowly add it to your stash.

Each month, Brenda and our staff will choose 12 prints, remixing pieces of each of the designers' collections as well as basics. All our remix bundles will be completely unique to our shop! Mixing and matching within each of the collections really is the most fun part because all the prints and colors play so well together.

The first six months of the club (August through January) will consist of prints from this first summer collection. Don't worry, you'll never receive a particular color of a print more than once. So we may use a print in more than one month's bundle, but we'll always use a color way that you haven't received yet.

After the first six months, starting with February, we'll start mixing in prints from the new collections. I know, the mere thought of another 100+ prints is overwhelming. But it's coming and we all need to mentally prepare ourselves for it.

Here's a list of all the prints we used in our August bundle:

If you'd like to subscribe to the club beginning with September, go here!!

Quilt when? Quilt Now!!

Quilt Now Magazine
There's a new kid on the block in the little world of modern quilting. Quilt Now has arrived from the UK and we're excited to bring it to you!

Many of you know Katy Jones. We love Katy Jones. Maybe you haven't noticed just how much we love Katy Jones (it's a lot). As editor in chief, this magazine is truly her baby and as lovely as she is. If you're a fan of hers, read her blog, follow her Instagram or Twitter, you probably like many of the same things she does. So basically, if you like what she likes, you'll love the magazine.

Everything published in Quilt Now is commissioned specifically for the magazine and is approved by Katy's artful eye. Full of quilts, bags, and other handmade goodies, she understands what modern quilters are really doing because she is a modern quilter! Each issue will feature a theme or common color palette, and projects from one month to the next will be completely fresh and different from the previous issue.

The first issue is sorbet themed. You'll notice beautiful, creamy pastels as well as punchy bright hues in the fabrics used to make tons of gorgeous projects. You'll be itching to start-- because who doesn't need more projects to work on?
PCF Bundle

If you love the color palette in this first issue, you might want to check out the coordinating blogger bundle she put together just for us! Feel free to pick one up here.

Quilt Now also comes with bonus pattern pieces, printed on separate paper. So no more sacrificing pages or photo copying to get your pattern. Katy handled it all for you. She even threw in a mini pin cushion project with supplies included. She's really too kind.

You can subscribe to Quilt Now through us and as of now, we are the only US distributor for the magazine. Don't worry, we're happy to ship internationally as well, just like we do with our fabric and other goodies. If you're not ready to commit and sign up for a subscription, we now have individual issues listed for sale.

While we don't know what next month has in store for us, Katy's posted some previews for a gorgeous quilt pattern shown two ways (and one of them is all Cotton + Steel).  If you haven't subscribed yet, make sure you're on board before the August issue is here in a few weeks!
